After a nursing career specialising in Intensive Care Angela Smith joined Healix International in 2004 as a repatriation nurse and case manager. Moving to Healix Risk Rating in 2006, Angela is responsible for the integrity of the products and services Risk Rating provide to the industry.
The Healix group of companies has provided healthcare solutions to clients both in the UK and around the world since 1992. It offers bespoke medical services to clients wanting control over their health, travel and risk provision.
Independently owned by its founders, Dr Paul Beven & Dr Peter Mason, Healix has offices in London, Auckland, Madrid and Thessaloniki. With more than eighty trained nurses and eight fully qualified doctors in the UK alone, it has the highest ratio of clinically trained staff to administrated members in the managed health services industry.
Healix is also the largest provider of medical case management services to the UK travel industry managing more than 30,000 patient episodes per annum worldwide including over 1,500 medical repatriations a year from over 100 different countries.
In 1996, Healix Director, Dr Paul Beven developed a medical screening application for use in the insurance market. Initially targeting the retail travel market, the solution allowed non-clinical staff to be able to screen potential new customers prior to purchase resulting in a rating score to decline or accept risk. Today the Healix Risk Rating solution screens more than two million individuals a year which represents an estimated 85% of all UK medical screenings. In 2008 Healix Risk Rating was recognized for its achievements by being awarded The Queens Award for Enterprise.
